Rimmel Show Off Matte Lip Velvet in Burning Lava

So the other day I was out shopping and while I was down one of the makeup aisles at Walmart to grab a bottle of foundation, I noticed these matte lipsticks from Rimmel. I hadn’t seen them before so I figured I’d grab one to try since I adore the matte Kate Moss lipsticks.

Get home and look them up to see what I’m in for. Rimmel claims that the formula is moisturizing (as tried by 30 people lol), it has a velvety smooth finish, and that it lasts for 8 hours.

Well, they’re 1/3 on their claims. It does dry down to a velvet finish.

The applicator is a typical doe foot, but the opening to the tube is weird and catches some of the product.

This is what it looks like and about how much product you get each time.

It applies nicely and is fairly thin. Since I don’t own many liquid lipsticks, I don’t have anything to compare it to. It does take some time to dry down. The color was lovely, but about 2 hours after application, it started to be very patchy and had faded in some places. During that time I didn’t have anything to eat or drink. All I did was walk around a mall shopping. It was also incredibly drying on my lips. If you’re looking for a cheap alternative to the KVD, Lime Crime, or Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks, I don’t think these are quite it. If you just want something matte, the Kate Moss line of mattes (red bullets) are a great option and I suggest those.

Pros: The color is nice and it does have a nice finish. Application was easy.

Cons: Drying and doesn’t last very long without touch ups.

You can find this where Rimmel products are typically sold. I paid about 5 dollars for it at Walmart.
