Just Saying….Drugstore Dry Shampoo Showdown!

Today I have a fun little drugstore showdown and it’s between four dry shampoos!

Here are the shampoos battling it out in this little showdown. We have the Herbal Essences Naked, Batiste, got2B 4Ever Style Stay, and Not Your Mothers Clean Freak.

So, these are the 4 dry shampoos I tried out when I first wanted to start using dry shampoos. Since I don’t live near places where I can purchase high end products, I went the drugstore route. I also figured if it’s a product I’ll end up using on a regular basis, it needed to be affordable and easy to get.

Before we jump right in, I want to let you guys know that my hair is normal and sometimes leans dry depending on the season. Also, all prices will be based off Walmart since that is the one store that is pretty much everywhere.

Let’s do this!

We’re going to kick this off with Clean Freak from Not Your Mothers. This retails for just under $5 and you get 7oz of product.

So, this one has a smell to it. It’s not a good smell either. It’s super strong and chemical smelling and unpleasant. When I was using this, people noticed the smell hours after I put it in my hair. It doesn’t leave much of a white cast, but it also doesn’t really help extend my time between washes either. It made my hair feel greasy after I used it. If you have dry hair, this might be a good option if you can deal with the smell.

Cost: 8/10

Smell: 2/10

Effectiveness: 3/10

We’re on to the next one, and this one retails for about $6. This is the batiste dry shampoo. Before I get into the breakdown, it’s worth noting that this shampoo comes in multiple scents and even colored formulas. I’ve tried the cherry and tropical ones, but I hear the other scents are great. You get 6.73 oz.

So, this product smells amazing. I used the cherry one first, but when I ran out, I got the tropical one because my shampoo/conditioner smell like coconut and I wanted it to match. This shampoo does leave a white cast, but if you rub it in well, it goes away. It also gives a bit of volume when you use it. If you’re not down with a white cast, they have you covered. There is a brown haired version that smells like chocolate and the powder is brown and there is a blonde version that matches that as well. In the hair, it doesn’t feel drying or greasy. It’s very refreshing for the hair and feels like nothing at all.

Cost: 8/10

Smell: 10/10

Effectiveness: 9/10

This is the first of the 4 I ever tried and it’s the got2B 4Ever Style Stay. This retails for about $7 and you get 4.3 oz of product.

So, this stuff has a worse smell than the Not Your Mother’s product. It’s bad and is straight up chemical. It gave me headaches while wearing it. That being said, there was no white cast and it worked really well. There wasn’t any drying out of my hair, or making it a grease ball.

Cost: 5/10

Smell: 1/10

Effectiveness: 8/10

And time for our last one! This is the Herbal Essences Naked dry shampoo. It’s $5 and contains 4.9oz of product.

So, I wanted to love this. It has a nice fresh smell and very little white cast. The can also just felt nice in my hand.

But damn this stuff is dry. It dried my hair out so bad I needed to do some deep conditioning treatments to get it back to normal. So, with that being said, it’s a great product if you have greasy or oily hair. This is perfect for that hair type since it will soak it all up. If your hair is normal or dry, stay away.

Cost: 8/10

Smell: 9/10

Effectiveness: 7/10

The verdict?

After trying all 4 of these products, the one I’d highly suggest for people is the batiste shampoo. You have options for different colored hair. You have options for how it smells. It’s affordable and you get a decent amount of product for the price. Though, if you’re in the market for something to dry things up, go with that Herbal Essence one. The other two are nice, but the got2B one isn’t worth it when you look at the cost and how much you get. The Not Your Mother’s isn’t bad for people with drier hair. Batiste seems good for all hair types, so with that….

Winner: Batiste dry shampoo

All of these products can be found in drugstores, Walmart, Target, and other stores like that. These are easily available anywhere.

Hope you liked this showdown! If you did like this, let me know and I’ll do more!

Stay beautiful!
