Today I’m going to take a look at my favorite kit from this past year!
So, my favorite kit this year is one that came from tarte. They have these kits for sale a couple times a year for $59. You get to choose your own shades of the products so there is total customization.
This time around the kit came with a bag, brush, foundation, blush, eyeliner, mascara, and lip tint.
Overall, I’m happy with the kit and the individual items are nice and worth the price. Even two of the items pays for the cost of the kit, so it’s really worth the value.
I’m going to break down and review each part.
The bag is nice and sturdy, yet smaller than the first bag I got with another one of these deals. The print is classy and will work great as a cosmetic bag in your purse.
The brush I picked is the Swirl Power Contour/Bronzing brush. I’ve really loved this brush for blush and blending my blush and highlight together. It’s quite soft and durable.
The foundation was the powder foundation, which is what I like to use during summertime, but I always thought Fair Honey was a bit too warm for me, so I picked up the shade Light Beige, which claims to be for fair skin and pink undertones. It was dark and orange. I was a bit upset that something that claims to be fair and for pink undertones was so dark and so not for pink undertones. Thankfully I have a spare of Fair Honey so I’ll just keep using that.
The blush shade I picked is Peaceful. I’ve reviewed and discussed tarte blushes before and this doesn’t disappoint. It’s a great neutral shade, perfect for fall.
The eyeliner I got was in the shade Deep Amethyst. It’s super creamy and a nice deep purple. I like it for lining my eyes for a softer look and for under the eye. It does come with a smudger end, but it didn’t do a great job of smudging anything.
The mascara I went with was Lights, Camera, Splashes. It’s the waterproof version of tarte’s flagship mascara. I’m in love with this mascara. It does magical things to my lashes and I’ve only reached for my Clump Crusher a couple of times since getting it.
The lip tint I got was a deep red color, but I didn’t care for it. It is a great tint, but very minty. It’s a bit warmer than I’d like, but a nice color.
Overall, I really like this kit and think it’s a great value. If you see it pop up again later in the year, grab it and try out some new products. Even if you just get a blush and a brush that you like, you’re covering the cost of the bag.
